Allen Davis, an American football coach and executive, was born on July 4, 1929 in Brockton, Massachusetts. From 1972 until his death in 2011, he was the major owner and general manager of the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL).
Prior to becoming the Raiders’ major owner, he served as the team’s head coach from 1963 to 1965 and as a part owner from 1966 to 1971, all when the Raiders were still in the American Football League (AFL). In 1966, he was also the commissioner of the American Football League.
